I love love love the movie Spirit of the Marathon. Last week, we saw Spirit of the Marathon II. I enjoyed it, but I’m still partial to the first one. I think is due to my connection to the Chicago Marathon. I can’t watch this movie without crying. I love the stories. I love the quotes. Here are two of my favorites:
“People run the marathon to prove that there is still triumph and there is still possibility in their lives.” (don’t know which person in the film actually said this)
“You triumph over adversity. That is what the marathon is about. And therefore there isn’t anything in life you can’t triumph over after that.” -Kathrine Switzer
Anytime you want to watch this movie, I will watch it with you.
I watched the first one before I started running and it was amazing to watch but when I sat down to watch the second one, I was so emotionally and energetically charged about it since I am training for my very first. Both were amazing films. Marathons truly are profound experiences.
